New standards in high speed connectors at ept!
The demand for connectors with highspeed data transmission is growing steadily - and with it the range of products offered by the connector manufacturer ept. The Colibri high speed connector is now available not only in a 16 Gbps version, but also in a 25 Gbps version. It meets the requirements of the COM Express specification and is therefore suitable for applications according to USB 3.1 Gen2 and PCIe 4.0 standards. The Colibri connector is therefore not only suitable for industrial automation, but also for medical and measurement technology, building technology, consumer electronics, gaming, transportation and automotive electronics.

Another highlight is the highspeed SMT connector Zero8, which the ModBlox7 committee believes is perfectly suited to the diverse requirements of the new PICMG® specification with the same name.
ModBlox7 is a new multi-vendor standard for interconnecting modules, most of which are used in transportation applications. The new specification covers mechanics, modular functional units and electrical connection by means of connectors in a predefined pinout. ModBlox7 describes the basic specification of a modular box PC, consisting of various functional modules such as CPU, power supply and I/Os. The highspeed SMT connector from ept meets all the requirements of the new specification in the angled, 80-pin version and impresses with its large product family with various designs, heights and pin counts as well as optional EMC shielding. Further advantages of the Zero8 ist the possibility of simultaneous transmission of high currents and highspeed signals, the enormous contact reliability due to the ScaleX connection technology as well as cost savings in the release process. For the mezzanine connections of up to three PCBs of a CPU, the Zero8 portfolio also offers a precisely fitting solution to the same installation conditions.
Both the Colibri and Zero8 connectors are ideally suited for highspeed automotive applications such as autonomous driving and infotainment, and deliver precisely fitting solutions for the mobility of tomorrow.
